Wills

Planning for the future is essential within our busy lives as there are so many other demands on our time.

At 1st Solicitors we can see you at a time to suit your needs. We can help you to plan ahead and make provision for your family, friends, charities and any other organisations on your death by offering a professional Will writing service.

Having a Will not only provides certainty for your family and friends, but peace of mind for you with the knowledge that when you pass away, those you intend to benefit from your Estate will also have peace of mind.

At 1st Solicitors we can draft a new Will prepared to your individual requirements, or update an existing will and provide sympathetic and practical advice if you are named as an Executor in someone else’s Will.

Powers of Attorney

As we get older it can be difficult to cope with our own financial affairs without help and assistance from someone we trust.

Having an Enduring Power of Attorney enables you to appoint someone else to manage your financial affairs, now or in the future. Unlike an ordinary Power of Attorney, an Enduring Power of Attorney can continue in the event that you lose the capacity to deal with your own affairs.

At 1st Solicitors we can advise on which Power of Attorney will meet your particular needs, prepare a Power of Attorney for you and register it at the Court of Protection.

The death of a loved one can be a distressing time; even more so when faced with sorting out their financial affairs.

If you are not sure what to do following bereavement, 1st Solicitors can assist you with specialist advice, provided with understanding and sensitivity. We can apply for a Grant of Probate and help with the collection and distribution of the deceased’s assets in accordance with their Will. If someone dies without a Will we can help you to apply for the Grant of Administration and to distribute their assets in accordance with the rules of intestacy.

Receivers

If you have a relative or friend who has become incapable of managing their own financial affairs, such as mental incapacity resulting from illness, infirmity or accident and a Power of Attorney has not been appointed, it may be necessary for a close relative or friend to apply to become their Receiver.

As a Receiver you will be required to manage the person’s income, to ensure that their day to day needs are met, bills are paid, property is kept in a good state of repair and important documents are in order and kept in a safe place.

At 1st Solicitors we can assist you in becoming a Receiver and will guide you through the responsibilities involved and advise you how to fulfil your duties as a Receiver.

Tax Planning

Nobody likes to pay tax. Many people like to explore ways in which their affairs can be managed tax efficiently.

Tax law is very complicated. 1st Solicitors can help you to arrange your financial affairs so that your loved ones will receive the maximum possible benefit from your Estate.

At 1st Solicitors we work with a range of financial advisors, accountants and other professionals.
